Day 2 of Partial Reboot

This could be considered "Day 2" of our Partial Reboot juicing experience! We're doing our best to swap 2 major meals a day with juice fresh from our Omega Vert juicer. We're allowing any kind of food for our last major meal at the moment, while our fridge is still full of "solid" food.

Today we began our day with a beet, carrot, pear, ginger and apple detoxifier, (recipe below).

Yields 1 qt of a super red Detoxifier drink:
1 1/2 Beets (not sure if they are considered large or small)
2 Anjou Pears
2 Red Delicious Apples
2 cups Baby Carrots
A piece of ginger the thickness of your finger

Bee peeled a huge chunk of ginger, and Owl tossed it in the juicer, and we both realized too late that it was WAY TOO MUCH GINGER!!! So we recommend trying a slice the thickness of your index finger or smaller to start, then working your way up.

Then we snacked on some leftover banana rum cake. There's no way we're wasting something that tasty!

For lunch we had last night's Mexican leftovers, which were vegetarian but not vegan. And we had some dessert left over from our party on Sunday. (You're probably thinking "No wonder they can't lose weight..." We generally don't eat all this cake- only when there are leftovers from holidays and celebrations a few times a year.)

For dinner we attempted drinking the juice featured in "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead," the Mean Green!

"Mean Green" Juice
Yields 1 qt.
 A bunch of Kale
1 Cucumber
1/2 Lemon
2 Green Apples
4 stalks of Celery
one thumbnail of Ginger

Let's just say, they weren't kidding about MEAN! Both of our gag reflexes were hit hard by either the kale or the celery- we really aren't sure which. We quickly abandoned ship and tried this one instead:

"Tangy Kiwi"
Yields 1 qt.
6 Kiwis
1 Cucumber
2 Anjou Pears
5oz (est.) Spinach/Greens Mix
1 Fuji Apple

Ahh, MUCH better! But still too sour for Owl. He's not the tangy type, but Bee liked it well enough! Tomorrow we're going to try something new with the beets- we hope it turns out well!
